PayPal has entered the travel booking space through a strategic partnership with hotel payment platform Selfbook, introducing a seamless hotel booking feature directly within the PayPal app. Users can now search, book, and pay for hotel stays through the app’s Offers section, enhancing convenience and enabling quick access to accommodations by filtering results based on travel dates and number of guests.
This new functionality leverages Selfbook’s advanced payment suite to streamline the booking process, offering PayPal users an integrated experience without the need to navigate third-party platforms. While it remains unclear if the entire Selfbook hotel inventory is accessible, participating properties benefit from a smooth, direct payment setup.
A key highlight of the integration is access to exclusive hotel discounts and the option to use PayPal’s Buy Now, Pay Later (BNPL) service at select locations—giving travellers greater flexibility in managing trip expenses. This move aligns with PayPal’s broader strategy to expand its digital ecosystem and respond to the rising demand for travel-related services, especially following an 84% increase in online travel payments made through its platform.
Selfbook, in turn, will adopt PayPal’s enterprise payment infrastructure to manage hotel credit card transactions, expanding the partnership beyond the app and solidifying PayPal’s presence in the hospitality payments space.
Khalid Meniri, CEO of Selfbook, praised the collaboration, stating that the integration simplifies the often fragmented hotel booking journey. He emphasized that the partnership empowers hotels with more control over their brand presence while fostering direct guest engagement.
