Philippine Tourism Secretary Christina Frasco announced the government’s plans to enhance infrastructure and services to attract the global cruise industry. She made this statement during the first day of Seatrade Cruise Asia at Shangri-La The Fort on Tuesday, November 12th.
She added that “What we want is a positive experience for our tourists. We want to ensure that they have a positive experience the moment they reach Philippine shores.”
The Philippine government is focused on upgrading ports to accommodate cruise ships and exploring new destinations for travelers seeking unique experiences.
Secretary Christina Frasco highlighted ongoing collaboration with the Department of Transportation (DOTr) to develop key ports, including discussions with Manila South Harbor administrators to improve passenger experiences.
By the end of 2024, the country expects 109 cruise calls across 40 destinations, including emerging locations like Ticao Island and Culion. The cruise sector in Asia is recovering steadily, with more destinations reopening and increasing traveler confidence.
