Qatar Airways Suspends Scheduled Flights Amid Qatar Airspace Closure

Scheduled flight operations of Qatar Airways remain temporarily suspended following the closure of Qatari airspace, with the airline confirming that services will resume only after the Qatar Civil Aviation Authority announces the safe and full reopening of the country’s airspace.

The airline stated that all regular flights continue to remain suspended for the time being, as authorities assess the situation. A further operational update is expected on 9 March 2026, once aviation regulators confirm when normal air traffic can safely resume.

However, a temporary restricted corridor has been authorised to facilitate a limited number of flights arriving into Doha on March 9. These flights are permitted from select cities including Amsterdam, Berlin, Frankfurt, London, Zurich, and Muscat. The airline clarified that these services are restricted to passengers whose final destination is Doha.

In addition, repatriation flights were operated on 8 March from Doha to key European cities including Amsterdam, Berlin, Frankfurt, London, and Zurich. These flights were arranged primarily to assist stranded travellers, with priority given to families, elderly passengers, and those with urgent medical or compassionate cases. Seats on these services were pre-allocated directly by the airline.

Passengers have been strongly advised not to travel to the airport unless they hold a confirmed valid ticket, as these limited operations do not indicate a full resumption of commercial flights.

The airline emphasised that the safety and wellbeing of passengers and crew remain its top priority, and that the current arrangements are temporary and tightly controlled measures until the Qatar Civil Aviation Authority confirms the complete reopening of the country’s airspace.
