Regent Seven Seas Cruises, the world’s leading ultra-luxury cruise line, has reached a significant milestone in the construction of its latest ship, Seven Seas Prestige, with the keel laying ceremony at the Fincantieri shipyard in Marghera, Italy. This marks the beginning of the brand’s next generation of vessels, setting a new standard in luxury cruising.
“Seven Seas Prestige embodies our commitment to raising the bar in ultra-luxury travel,” said Jason Montague, Chief Luxury Officer of Regent Seven Seas Cruises. “We are proud to solidify our leadership position in the industry with this exciting moment. The expertise, passion, and precision that define both Regent and Fincantieri are key to bringing this new ship to life, ushering in an era of unrivaled excellence.”
The ceremony was attended by key figures from Regent and Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings Ltd., including Harry Sommer, President and CEO, Jason Montague, and Patrik Dahlgren, EVP and Chief Vessel Operations Officer. They were joined by Fincantieri’s leadership team, including Daniele Fanara, Senior Vice President of New Building and After Sales, and Marco Lunardi, Senior Vice President of Marghera Shipyard.
Luigi Matarazzo, General Manager of Fincantieri Merchant Ships Division, expressed his pride in the continued partnership between Regent and Fincantieri. “The keel laying of Seven Seas Prestige is an important moment not just for Regent but for the entire luxury cruising industry. This ship reflects the craftsmanship and technical innovation we’ve honed through our successful collaboration on Regent’s Explorer Class vessels.”
In keeping with maritime tradition, three specially selected coins were welded onto the ship’s keel during the ceremony. These coins include a commemorative Seven Seas Prestige coin, minted to celebrate Regent’s first new ship class in a decade; a Venetian coin, dating back to 1688, which honors the shipyard’s heritage and Regent’s longstanding relationship with Fincantieri; and a Christopher Columbus US silver dollar, issued in 1992 to mark the founding year of Regent Seven Seas Cruises and to honor the legacy of the famed Italian explorer.
The construction of Seven Seas Prestige promises to redefine ultra-luxury cruising, continuing Regent Seven Seas Cruises’ tradition of offering unparalleled luxury, exquisite design, and world-class service. The ship is expected to set new standards in comfort, elegance, and innovation for the modern luxury traveler.
