Royal Jordanian Airlines has underscored the strengthening relationship between India and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan as Prime Minister Narendra Modi undertook a historic bilateral visit to Jordan, marking a significant moment in ties that coincide with 75 years of diplomatic relations between the two nations.
Prime Minister Modi’s visit to Amman, including high-level engagements with King Abdullah II, reaffirmed the shared commitment of both countries to deepen cooperation across trade, culture, tourism and people-to-people exchanges. Discussions during the visit focused on priority areas such as infrastructure, renewable energy, education, regional stability and enhanced bilateral engagement.
As Jordan’s national carrier, Royal Jordanian Airlines plays a crucial role in supporting this growing partnership through reliable air connectivity. At the heart of this effort is the airline’s direct Mumbai–Amman service, a strategically important route that connects India with Jordan while positioning Amman as a key transit hub for Indian travellers heading to the Middle East, Europe and North America via Queen Alia International Airport.
Commenting on the significance of the visit, Karim Makhlouf, Chief Commercial Officer, Royal Jordanian Airlines, said,
“Prime Minister Modi’s visit to Jordan represents a powerful moment in the evolving relationship between our two countries. As Jordan’s national carrier, Royal Jordanian is proud to bring India and Jordan closer, not only through air connectivity but by enabling stronger business ties, cultural exchange and tourism.”
He further noted that India continues to be an important emerging market for the airline, with growing awareness and travel interest driven by such high-level engagements.
The visit has also drawn renewed global attention to Jordan as a compelling tourism destination, with increasing interest from Indian travellers. Iconic attractions such as Petra, the Dead Sea, Wadi Rum, along with the country’s rich religious and historical sites, continue to appeal to travellers seeking culture, heritage, faith tourism, medical travel and immersive experiences.
In line with this momentum, Royal Jordanian actively supports ExploRJordan, the country’s official tourism platform, which promotes curated itineraries, immersive travel experiences and lesser-known destinations. Through its connectivity and partnerships, the airline helps enhance Jordan’s visibility and accessibility in the Indian market.
With direct connectivity, award-winning service and an extensive onward network, Royal Jordanian Airlines remains well positioned to support the next phase of India–Jordan engagement, making travel to Jordan more seamless for Indian travellers while strengthening the bridge between the two nations.
