Saint Petersburg Convention Bureau (SPCB) recently welcomed a delegation of prominent journalists from India and Iran for a special familiarization tour of the city. Sergey Azarenkov, General Director of SPCB, warmly greeted the guests, saying, “Welcome to Saint Petersburg! It’s an honor to have your group with us. The tour aims to showcase Saint Petersburg’s blend of historic charm and modern vibrancy, offering the delegates insights into the city’s iconic sites. “Tomorrow, you’ll explore our beautiful embankments and world-famous museums,” Azarenkov added, highlighting the city’s balance between tradition and contemporary culture. Journalists will also experience popular attractions like New Holland Island, Sevkabel Port, and the impressive Gazprom Arena stadium.
Azarenkov emphasized Saint Petersburg’s role as a leading destination for international congresses, with venues like ExpoForum and various congress hotels designed to host global visitors. He expressed hope that the delegates would share these unique aspects with their readers, promoting the city as an ideal destination for international meetings and cultural exchange.
Azarenkov’s team delivered a comprehensive presentation highlighting Saint Petersburg’s diverse attractions, with Diana Mayorova, head of the international cooperation department, also in attendance. A key moment of the event was Azarenkov’s invitation for delegates to join the upcoming World Ambassador Congress, scheduled for 14–16 November 2024, emphasizing the city’s commitment to fostering global connections. Additionally, Saint Petersburg will host the International Tourist Forum “Travel Hub: Let’s Travel” from 4–6 December, showcasing its growing role as a prominent travel destination.
