Saudi Strengthens Ties with Indian Travel Trade Through SATTE 2025 and Mega Initiatives in MICE, Weddings, and GIT

Saudi Arabia is solidifying its position as a premier global travel destination by actively engaging with the Indian travel trade through strategic networking events and participation in SATTE 2025. At this prestigious travel trade event in New Delhi, the Saudi Tourism Authority (STA) showcased the country’s diverse tourism offerings, including its rich cultural heritage, iconic landmarks, and world-class hospitality. With a delegation comprising 14 key stakeholders from Destination Management Organizations (DMOs), Destination Management Companies (DMCs), and airline partners, Saudi highlighted its appeal to Indian travelers across multiple segments.

Further strengthening its outreach, STA hosted exclusive networking events in Bengaluru and Mumbai, connecting with over 200 travel trade professionals, OTAs, and key industry stakeholders. These events provided deeper insights into Saudi’s tourism initiatives and growth opportunities in the Indian market.

Saudi is also making significant strides in attracting Indian travelers through major initiatives in MICE, destination weddings, and Group Inclusive Tours (GIT). A recent GIT familiarization trip allowed leading Indian travel professionals to experience Saudi’s warm hospitality, breathtaking landscapes, and vibrant cultural scene. With luxurious accommodations, world-class venues, and bespoke experiences, Saudi is emerging as an ideal destination for grand weddings, corporate retreats, and exclusive events.

Beyond tourism, Saudi is also becoming a global hub for major sporting events. Since 2018, the country has hosted over 100 international sporting events, including boxing championships and Formula 1. Looking ahead, it will welcome the World Rally Championship, the FIBA Basketball Asia Cup, the Esports World Cup, and the FIFA World Cup 2034, attracting Indian sports enthusiasts to experience world-class events in Riyadh, Jeddah, Al Khobar, and Abha.

Enhanced connectivity is further driving Saudi’s growing status as a tourism and sports powerhouse. As of February 2025, weekly inbound flights from India have surged to 314, reflecting a 13.4% increase from 2024, with further expansion of 14.5% expected this year. Saudi is now connected to 33 key Indian gateways, including Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, and Hyderabad, via seven major airlines—Saudia, Flynas, IndiGo, Air India, Air India Express, SpiceJet, and Akasa Air. Additionally, Indian travelers with a valid Schengen, UK, or US visa can now benefit from streamlined visa procedures at 11 Tasheer Centers across India, making travel to Saudi more accessible than ever.

With a clear vision for the future, Saudi continues to evolve as a must-visit destination, offering diverse experiences in adventure, luxury, and cultural immersion. As India remains a key source market, Saudi’s strategic efforts and Vision 2030 initiatives are set to drive tourism growth, creating unparalleled opportunities for Indian travelers and trade professionals.
