Seclude Hotels Launches ‘Seclude Hampi 1800’, a Restored Royal Heritage Residence Near UNESCO-listed Hampi

Seclude Hotels has announced the launch of Seclude Hampi 1800, a six-bedroom royal heritage residence in Sandur, offering a rare, intimate stay experience near one of India’s most historically significant destinations. Located close to the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Hampi, the launch marks Seclude’s entry into a globally renowned region that remains underserved when it comes to meaningful, character-led accommodation.

Originally a residence of the Royal Family of Sandur, Seclude Hampi 1800 has been meticulously restored with a strong focus on preserving its original character. The property retains authentic carved artefacts, paintings and brass pieces belonging to the royal family, carefully integrated into the restored spaces to ensure the home’s history remains visible and alive throughout the residence.

Set amid palm-lined gardens and built in the region’s traditional architectural style, the residence offers a quiet alternative to conventional hotels, while remaining within easy reach of Hampi’s temples, historic bazaars and ancient ruins.

Each of the six rooms is individually named, drawing inspiration from local history and cultural symbolism. The Bazaar Yellow room reflects the legacy of the historic Hampi Bazaar, once a thriving centre of trade and daily life, while Lotus Pink takes inspiration from the sacred lotus associated with Lord Vishnu, echoing the region’s deep spiritual heritage.

Commenting on the launch, Ramit Sethi, Founder, Seclude Hotels, said the choice of Sandur aligns with Seclude’s philosophy of spotlighting offbeat destinations with strong narratives. “Being so close to the timeless heritage of Hampi gives this home a soul that cannot be recreated. It is a place shaped by its own story,” he said.

Rohit Sethi, Founder, Seclude Hotels, added that the intent was not to convert the residence into a conventional hotel, but to allow guests to experience it as a living heritage space, where architecture, stories and hospitality come together organically.

From exploring Hampi’s vast temple complexes and royal enclosures to witnessing the famed musical pillars and enjoying coracle rides on the Tungabhadra River, the destination offers a deeply immersive cultural journey.

With the launch of Seclude Hampi 1800, Seclude Hotels continues to expand its portfolio of distinctive heritage homes, focused on cultural authenticity, sensitive restoration and understated hospitality—offering travellers not just a stay, but a genuine sense of place.
