Singapore Tourism Board Appoints Serene Woon as Area Director for India, Middle East, and South Asia (Mumbai)

The Singapore Tourism Board (STB) has announced the appointment of Serene Woon as the new Area Director-Designate for India, Middle East, and South Asia (Mumbai), effective from May 1, 2025. She will officially assume the full role on July 1, 2025. Based in Mumbai, Woon will lead STB’s strategic initiatives in West and South India, along with overseeing the Middle East and South Asia regions. She will also spearhead STB’s destination marketing efforts across India.

With over 15 years of experience at STB and other key government roles, Woon previously served as Area Director in South Korea and Malaysia, where she successfully led branded entertainment campaigns and expanded the Board’s regional presence. Her recent roles include Deputy Director at Singapore’s Ministry of Trade and Industry (MTI), where she contributed to border reopening policies post-COVID, and Deputy Director of Strategic Planning at STB, where she played a key role in crafting Singapore’s long-term Tourism 2040 strategy.

Markus Tan, STB’s Regional Director for IMESA, praised Woon’s appointment, stating, “India is one of our most important growth markets. Serene’s rich experience and deep understanding of evolving traveller preferences will help us strengthen ties with Indian audiences and further boost Singapore’s appeal as a preferred destination.”
