The Singapore Tourism Board (STB) announced that visitor arrivals from India have surpassed one million in 2024, two months earlier than in 2023. The milestone was marked on October 31 when a Singapore Airlines flight from Mumbai arrived at Changi Airport.
From January to October 2024, Indian arrivals increased by 12% compared to the previous year, making India Singapore’s third-largest tourism market.
STB’s Regional Director, Markus Tan, highlighted Singapore’s appeal as a top destination for Indian travelers and emphasized ongoing efforts to promote the country across India, beyond metro cities, through strategic partnerships and innovative marketing.
Singapore’s allure for Indian visitors is supported by robust connectivity and a variety of experiences. STB has partnered with Indian brands and platforms, including a collaboration with PhonePe for UPI transactions and a deal with MakeMyTrip to offer unique travel packages. Initiatives like a travel vlog series featuring Ananya Panday have also enhanced Singapore’s visibility.
Singapore Airlines General Manager India, Sy Yen Chen, celebrated the achievement and reaffirmed the airline’s commitment to offering world-class service. Sentosa Development Corporation’s Chew Tiong Heng noted India’s importance as a key market and highlighted upcoming attractions, like Sensoryscape and the Singapore Oceanarium. Raj Rishi Singh of MakeMyTrip and Li Hongyi of Changi Airport Group also emphasized India’s significance, with plans for enhanced connectivity and new experiences.
Looking ahead, Singapore promises exciting offerings in 2025, such as “Harry Potter: Visions of Magic,” Singapore Art Week, Minion Land at Sentosa, and Disney Cruise Line’s new sailings.
