In response to surging passenger demand, South Central Railway (SCR) has announced a significant upgrade to the Kacheguda–Yesvantpur–Kacheguda Vande Bharat Express. Effective July 10, 2025, the popular semi-high-speed intercity train will operate with a 16-coach configuration double its previous capacity accommodating up to 1,128 passengers, up from the earlier 530. This enhancement comes as a major boost for commuters traveling between Hyderabad and Bengaluru, two of South India’s busiest metropolitan and IT hubs.
The upgraded Train No. 20703/20704 will now include 14 Chair Cars with a total of 1,024 seats and two Executive Class coaches offering 104 seats. The decision follows consistent over-100% occupancy since the train’s launch, signaling a strong commuter preference for faster, more comfortable travel options. The expansion is expected to ease waitlists, especially during peak travel periods such as festivals and extended weekends.
SCR General Manager Sandeep Mathur emphasized that the capacity enhancement is a direct result of overwhelming public demand and aligns with Indian Railways’ broader mission to modernize its infrastructure. The revamped train composition not only increases seating but also introduces a more balanced coach layout, improving passenger movement during boarding and deboarding.
The Vande Bharat Express continues to offer premium features including reduced travel time, onboard Wi-Fi, GPS-based passenger information systems, and ergonomically designed seating. With its upgraded capacity and amenities, the service aims to provide enhanced convenience for business travelers, tourists, and daily commuters alike.
