Sri Lanka Tourism Launches Three-City Roadshow in Southern India to Woo Travellers

Sri Lanka Tourism has announced a three-city roadshow series across Southern India, aiming to strengthen its presence in one of its most important source markets. The promotional campaign will take place in Madurai (October 6), Coimbatore (October 8), and Chennai (October 10, 2025), bringing together travel agents, industry leaders, and media stakeholders.

Organised by the Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau (SLTPB) and the Sri Lanka Convention Bureau (SLCB), the roadshows will highlight Sri Lanka as a year-round destination for leisure and MICE travellers. The events are designed to showcase the country’s diverse attractions — from its cultural heritage and natural beauty to its modern hospitality infrastructure.

The delegation is led under the leadership of Mr. Vijitha Herath, Honourable Minister for Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment and Tourism, and Prof. Ruwan Ranasinghe, Honourable Deputy Minister of Tourism. More than 40 stakeholders from the Sri Lankan tourism sector, including Destination Management Companies, hotels, resorts, and tour operators, will participate in B2B meetings with their Indian counterparts.

Each city event is expected to draw over 200 participants, including leading Indian travel agents, tour operators, and media delegates. In addition to business networking, the evenings will feature cultural performances by a Sri Lankan dance troupe, adding a touch of heritage and glamour to the proceedings.

Sri Lanka Tourism officials said the initiative underscores the island nation’s commitment to the Indian market, particularly Southern India, which contributes significantly to inbound travel. “Our goal is to showcase Sri Lanka’s resilience, diversity, and world-class hospitality while creating new opportunities for collaboration with Indian travel trade partners,” the organisers noted.

With breathtaking landscapes, vibrant traditions, and luxury hospitality offerings, Sri Lanka aims to strengthen its position as a preferred getaway for Indian travellers through these targeted engagements.
