Suman Billa Appointed DG, Tourism; Mugdha Sinha Named MD, ITDC in Key Bureaucratic Reshuffle

In a major bureaucratic reshuffle, senior IAS officers Suman Billa and Mugdha Sinha have been appointed to key roles in India’s tourism sector.

Billa, a 1996-batch Kerala cadre officer, takes over as Director General (Tourism) in the Ministry of Tourism. He brings extensive experience, including roles as Joint Secretary in the ministry (2014–2019) and Director at UNWTO, Madrid.

Sinha, a 1999-batch Rajasthan cadre officer, has been appointed Managing Director of ITDC at the rank of Additional Secretary. She previously served as Director General of Tourism and Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Culture.

Their appointments are part of a larger reshuffle by the DoPT, involving 25 new Additional Secretary-level postings. Both officers are expected to drive innovation and growth in India’s tourism infrastructure and global presence.
