Summit Hotels Expands Footprint with Two Boutique Properties in North Bengal

Homegrown hospitality chain Summit Hotels & Resorts has announced the signing of two new boutique properties in North Bengal, strengthening its presence across the fast-growing Darjeeling–Siliguri tourism corridor in Eastern India.

The group will develop Summit Gulma River Resort in Siliguri and Summit Falling Water near Darjeeling, both designed as 30-room boutique properties focused on immersive, nature-led experiences. The Siliguri property is scheduled to open on 15 August, while the Darjeeling hotel is expected to launch in early 2027.

Located in the scenic Gulma area of Siliguri, overlooking tea estates and a flowing river, Summit Gulma River Resort will cater to both leisure and event-driven demand. The property will feature a mix of standard and studio-style rooms with kitchenettes, an all-day dining restaurant, bar, spa, gym, and a banquet hall with a capacity of around 150 guests, targeting boutique weddings and corporate gatherings.

The second project, Summit Falling Water, will be situated at Rangbull, just before Darjeeling town. Inspired by Frank Lloyd Wright’s iconic design philosophy, the hotel will be built around a natural water stream, blending architecture with its surroundings. All rooms will offer private balconies with views of the stream and hills, while the heritage Darjeeling Himalayan Railway (Toy Train) passing in front of the property is expected to enhance the guest experience.

Commenting on the expansion, Founder Sumit Mitruka highlighted North Bengal’s growing appeal, driven by leisure travel, destination weddings, and experiential tourism. He emphasised the group’s focus on smaller, design-led properties that integrate local landscapes rather than large-scale resort developments.

With these additions, Summit Hotels & Resorts continues to strengthen its presence in the Eastern Himalayan region through boutique, experience-driven hospitality offerings.
