Summit Hotels & Resorts Enters Luxury Segment with ‘The Summit’ in Siliguri, Eastern India’s First Urban Resort

Summit Hotels & Resorts, Eastern India’s largest hospitality chain, has announced its foray into the luxury segment with the launch of its flagship property, The Summit, in Siliguri. Slated to open in May 2027, the 100-room resort will redefine city hospitality by combining urban convenience with resort-style indulgence. Located at the critical gateway to Darjeeling, Sikkim and Bhutan, the property is envisioned as Eastern India’s first true urban luxury resort, designed by architect Vivek Singh Rathore, a Forbes India “Bold Club” honoree. Featuring private balconies in every room, The Summit will house the largest banquet facilities in the region, capable of hosting up to 2,000 guests and managing 10 simultaneous events, firmly positioning Siliguri as a premier destination for luxury weddings, corporate events and high-end leisure travel. Guests will enjoy diverse dining options ranging from regional Himalayan specialties to rooftop restaurants and poolside grills, alongside a wellness sanctuary offering traditional therapies and modern treatments. The resort will also introduce pickleball and squash courts, indoor gaming zones, and Siliguri’s first 40-foot-high nightclub with panoramic views and international entertainment. Staying true to its sustainability commitments, the project is targeting green building certifications, renewable energy integration, and the creation of over 300 local jobs while working with regional artisans and suppliers. “This resort is our love letter to Siliguri and the entire region. The Summit is our bold step into the luxury market, a destination that will set new benchmarks for Eastern India and put Siliguri firmly on the national hospitality map,” said Sumit Mitruka, CEO & Founder of Summit Hotels & Resorts. As the group’s largest single investment to date, the property marks a cornerstone in Summit’s ambitious plan to expand to 50 hotels by 2030, making it the first mover in addressing the growing demand for large-scale luxury event venues in Eastern India.
