TAAI (JK Chapter) holds 1st bimonthly meeting

The Travel Agents Association of India (TAAI), JK Chapter, successfully held its 1st bimonthly meeting on Friday (October 11) at Hotel Golden Tulip, Sonwar, Srinagar. The meeting saw enthusiastic participation from chapter members, who discussed key issues related to the travel and tourism industry.

A special felicitation ceremony was also held to honour the outgoing chairman, Athar Yameen Narwari. The event was attended by officials from the Government of Jammu and Kashmir, renowned environmentalist Nadeem Qadri, and heads of hotels and various travel and tourism associations.

During the meeting, Sameer Baktoo, Chairman of the TAAI JK Chapter, stressed the importance of addressing challenges faced by local travel agents in Kashmir. He expressed optimism that the upcoming government would focus on resolving these issues and formulating policies to protect the interests of local travel agents.

The meeting also emphasized the need for promoting responsible tourism and sustainable development as key elements for the future growth of the industry. Baktoo reiterated that tourism remains the backbone of Kashmir’s economy and advocated for extending industrial benefits to the tourism sector, which could significantly boost the region’s economic growth.
