TAAI Thanks Government for Limiting Impact of ATF Price Surge on Air Travelers

The Travel Agents Association of India (TAAI) has expressed sincere appreciation to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Ministry of Civil Aviation, and the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas for their timely intervention in addressing challenges arising from disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz.

The situation had posed a serious threat to the aviation sector, with fears of a potential 100% increase in Aviation Turbine Fuel (ATF) prices. Such a spike could have significantly affected airline operations and led to a sharp rise in airfares.

However, due to the proactive steps taken by the government and concerned ministries, the crisis has been effectively mitigated. The increase in ATF prices has been restricted to a staggered rise of around 25%, offering relief to both airlines and passengers.

TAAI noted that at a time when stability is crucial for the aviation industry, the government’s measured and forward-looking approach is commendable. The move is expected to safeguard traveler interests while supporting the sustainability of domestic airlines.

The association also urged the government to prevent any further rise in ATF prices, warning that additional increases could put financial strain on passengers and slow down the recovery of the travel sector.
