In a significant move to strengthen tourism ties between India and Cambodia, members of the Travel Agents Federation of India (TAFI) North India chapter visited Cambodia from 14th to 18th August 2024. The visit culminated in the signing of a pivotal Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between TAFI and the Cambodian Association of Travel Agents (CATA), aimed at promoting tourism between the two nations.
The MOU was signed by Anil Kalsi, Vice President of TAFI, and Chhay Sivlin, President of CATA, in a formal ceremony witnessed by several distinguished representatives from both organizations. On the Indian side, key attendees included Achal Rai Krishna, Joint Treasurer of TAFI; Khushvinder Sarna, Chairman of TAFI North India; and Dinessh Kumar, Honorary Secretary of TAFI North India. The event was graced by prominent Cambodian dignitaries, including Ngov Sengkak, Deputy Governor of Siem Reap Province, and other senior members of CATA such as Eng Kunthea, President of the CATA Siem Reap Chapter; Sar Sarin, Senior Vice President of CATA; Oknha Sreat Mom Sophea, Vice President of CATA; and Ho Vandy, Senior Advisor of CATA.
The signing of the MoU marks a new chapter in the collaboration between Indian and Cambodian travel agents, focusing on promoting tourism, enhancing bilateral relations, and exchanging best practices in the travel industry. The agreement seeks to boost cultural exchange, increase tourism flows between the two countries, and encourage cooperation in marketing and promotion efforts.
Following the signing ceremony, attendees were treated to a vibrant cultural program that showcased the rich traditions of Cambodia, further emphasizing the cultural and touristic synergies between the two nations. The event also featured a comprehensive destination presentation, highlighting the potential for increased tourism cooperation and shared opportunities in both countries.
This MoU is expected to pave the way for future collaborations and initiatives, further solidifying the partnership between India and Cambodia in the travel and tourism sector.
