In a move to enhance premium tourism experiences, Jupally Krishna Rao, Minister for Prohibition & Excise, Tourism and Culture, Government of Telangana, has announced the launch of a helicopter tourism service connecting Hyderabad, Somasila and Srisailam. The service is set to commence from April 9.
The heli-tourism circuit is designed to offer travellers a unique aerial perspective of Telangana’s natural and spiritual landmarks, including the scenic Krishna River and the lush expanse of the Nallamala forests. The initiative forms part of the state government’s broader strategy to diversify tourism offerings through high-end and experiential travel products.
The curated itinerary will include a same-day return package featuring key experiences such as boating at Somasila and darshan at the revered Sri Mallikarjuna Swamy Temple in Srisailam, making it attractive for both leisure and pilgrimage travellers.
The project is being rolled out in partnership with private aviation operators, reflecting a public-private collaboration model aimed at improving connectivity and accessibility to major tourist destinations.
Officials indicated that similar heli-tourism services are being planned for other prominent locations, including Nagarjuna Sagar, Ramappa Temple and Nizam Sagar.
The initiative is expected to give a boost to religious and eco-tourism in the state while attracting high-spending travellers, positioning Telangana as an emerging hub for experiential tourism in India.
