Thailand and Malaysia have emerged as the most preferred visa-free international destinations for Indian travellers, while Indonesia continues to lead among visa-on-arrival (VOA) markets, according to the latest accommodation search data from digital travel platform Agoda.
Based on searches made between 1 and 18 January 2026 for travel during February–March, the data shows Thailand ranking first overall, followed by Indonesia, Malaysia, Sri Lanka, and the Maldives. Sri Lanka saw a notable 61% year-on-year growth in searches, while Laos recorded the highest growth at 97%, indicating rising interest in emerging, easy-access destinations.
Commenting on the trend, Gaurav Malik, Country Director – Indian Subcontinent & Indian Ocean Islands at Agoda, said ease of visa access is increasingly influencing travel decisions, with Indian travellers showing strong interest in culturally rich, hassle-free international experiences.
