The World’s First Hands-On Cooking School at Sea: Oceania Cruises Marks 15 Years of The Culinary Centre

Oceania Cruises marks 15 years of its innovative Culinary Centre, the first-ever hands-on cooking school at sea, with new classes for 2025 and beyond. Launched in 2009 aboard Marina, Oceania’s Culinary Centre is now featured on four ships: Marina, Riviera, Vista, and the upcoming Allura, launching in Summer 2025.

To commemorate this milestone, Oceania Cruises introduces new culinary classes focusing on regional cuisines such as Pacific Northwest, Polynesian, and Australian flavors. With over 60 current classes, the Culinary Centre allows guests to explore the culture and history of each destination through food, using professional-grade equipment and individual stations.

Chef Kathryn Kelly, Director of Culinary Enrichment and the driving force behind The Culinary Centre, continues to expand the program, including Chef-led Culinary Discovery Tours™ available in over 40 destinations. These excursions offer guests the opportunity to shop local markets and then prepare dishes inspired by their travels.

“We are the only cruise built by foodies, for foodies. Food is at the heart of everything we do at Oceania Cruises – we have literally built our ships around the culinary experience, from vast galley spaces to an unparalleled range of restaurants. I am so proud to say we were the first line ever to have a hands-on cooking school at sea, and the popularity of The Culinary Center shows no sign of abating. This is testament to the incredible work done by Chef Kelly and her creative team, as they continue to drive our culinary legacy,” said Frank A. Del Rio, President of Oceania Cruises.

The new 2025 classes include:

  • Culinary Northwest Passage: A celebration of the farm-to-table food scene from Seattle to Anchorage.
  • Down Under Abundance: A culinary exploration of New Zealand and Australia’s seafood, meats, and wines.
  • It’s a Dessert Party: A sweet evening class featuring decadent desserts and Champagne pairings.
  • South Seas Salt Life: A Polynesian-inspired class celebrating fresh, seasonal ingredients.
  • Snow Days Brunch: A cozy winter brunch experience featuring comforting family recipes and warming cocktails.

Oceania Cruises continues to offer unique culinary experiences, combining world-class cooking instruction with luxurious travel. For more information, visit OceaniaCruises.com.
