Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced key initiatives, including visa waivers for foreign tourist groups, the development of 50 major tourist destinations, financial support for homestays, and the expansion of medical tourism under the ‘Heal in India’ initiative.

Visa Waivers to Attract Foreign Tourists

To enhance international travel, the government will introduce visa waivers for select foreign tourist groups. This move aims to simplify entry procedures, making India a more accessible and attractive destination for global travelers while increasing tourism revenue.

Development of 50 Key Tourist Sites

The government, in collaboration with state authorities, will develop 50 major tourist sites across India. This initiative will enhance infrastructure, amenities, and global appeal, with a special focus on destinations linked to the life and teachings of Lord Buddha. The effort aligns with India’s goal of becoming a top destination for cultural and spiritual tourism.

Mudra Loans to Strengthen Homestay Businesses

To support small and local hospitality businesses, the government will extend Mudra loans to homestay owners. This financial assistance will help upgrade facilities, providing a comfortable and authentic experience for travelers. The initiative is expected to boost rural tourism, create employment, and encourage entrepreneurship in the hospitality sector.

Boost for Medical Tourism Under ‘Heal in India’

India’s reputation for affordable and high-quality healthcare continues to grow, making it a preferred destination for medical tourism. Under the ‘Heal in India’ initiative, the government will collaborate with private players to strengthen medical tourism by easing visa processes and enhancing healthcare infrastructure.

Infrastructure Development for Rural Growth

The Finance Minister also announced financial aid for Bihar’s Mithilanchal region, with funding for the Western Kosi Canal project. This initiative will benefit 50,000 hectares of farmland, improving irrigation and boosting local agricultural productivity.

Government’s Vision for Tourism and Economic Growth

The Union Budget 2025 reflects the government’s commitment to developing India’s tourism sector, supporting local businesses, and improving accessibility for international travelers.
