Tourism Malaysia Launches Largest-Ever Sales Mission to Hyderabad, Bangalore, and Kochi

Tourism Malaysia has kicked off its largest-ever Sales Mission to India, running from February 3-7, 2025, across Hyderabad, Bangalore, and Kochi. Led by Director General Datuk Manoharan Periasamy, the mission features a 62-member delegation from Malaysia, focusing on expanding opportunities in Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions (MICE), wedding tourism, and leisure travel.

In 2024, Malaysia welcomed one million Indian tourists, with Southern India accounting for over 50% of arrivals. Strong air connectivity supports this growth, with 151 weekly flights and 26,686 seats per week. New Indigo Airlines routes to Penang and Langkawi from Chennai and Bangalore further enhance travel access.

Highlighting Malaysia’s world-class convention centers, luxury hotels, and scenic wedding destinations, the mission aims to attract more Indian travelers ahead of Visit Malaysia Year 2026, which targets 1.6 million visitors from India. Hishamuddin Mustafa, Director of Tourism Malaysia Chennai, emphasized that Southern India’s 84 weekly flights and 12,395 seats per week make Malaysia an attractive destination for business events, weddings, and vacations.

Tourism Malaysia, under the Ministry of Tourism, Arts & Culture, continues to strengthen its international presence, aligning its initiatives with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
