There is twelve weeks to go until the ISRAMAN Ironman Garmin Race, the Israeli iron distance triathlon, will take place in Eilat on the last weekend of January. It is ranked as one of the top 10 most challenging long triathlons in the world. Athletes will swim 3.8 km in the beautiful crystal clear waters of the Red Sea, cycle 180 km in the Eilat mountains and run a 42.2 km marathon back to the finish line in the resort city.
For those looking for a lesser but still formidable challenge, the Half ISRAMAN includes a 1.8 km swim, a 90 km bike ride and a 21.1 km run. This year there will also be IsraKids, which will give a triathlon experience to two age groups.
The ISRAMAN has earned international recognition for its very tough, challenging and scenery course which attracts many foreign athletes. This year, about 2000 athletes from 25 nations are expected to take part in the race, accompanied by ten thousand family members and friends who will come to the resort city of Eilat to support and be part of one of the largest international sport events in Israel.
