Tripura Tourism Director Calls B2B Meet the Backbone of State’s Global Tourism Push

At the second phase of the Unity Promo Fest, the Director of Tourism and Managing Director of the Tripura Tourism Development Corporation emphasised that the B2B Meet is one of the most critical components of the state’s tourism promotion strategy. Addressing buyers, media and stakeholders, he said that the growth of any tourism destination depends on two key elements — the place a visitor wishes to explore and the tourist who wants to experience that place. The link that connects the two, he stressed, is the tour operator.

He explained that tour operators must have a deep understanding of both the destination and the local ecosystem. In Tripura’s context, this means knowing the state’s key tourism sites and also being familiar with the local tour operators, taxi operators, hoteliers and service providers who create packages and facilities for visitors. The B2B platform, he noted, enables these connections, facilitates exchanges and ultimately helps attract more domestic and international tourists to the state.

Recalling the first Unity Promo Fest held last year, he said the initiative brought in 78 tour operators from 16 states and resulted in positive outcomes, generating business worth more than ₹23 crore. Building on that success, the event has been expanded significantly this year with participation from 22 states as well as tour operators from neighbouring countries such as Bhutan and Malaysia, a move aimed at positioning Tripura on a global tourism stage.

He urged all participating buyers and operators to actively promote Tripura’s signature attractions, including the Mata Tripura Sundari Temple, Unakoti, Neermahal, Ujjayanta Palace and Dumboor Lake, so that these destinations gain the same recognition as other major tourist spots across the country. He added that promoting these sites would enhance Tripura’s visibility, create employment opportunities and strengthen the state’s ability to compete globally.

Concluding his address, he extended his warm welcome to all participants and expressed hope that the interactions at the B2B Meet would help carry Tripura’s tourism story to a much wider audience.
