Turkish Airlines has improved its well-liked Stopover in Istanbul program by extending the period of free hotel stays and broadening the list of countries from which passengers can depart. Business Class passengers can now stay in a five-star hotel for up to three nights, while Economy Class passengers can stay in a four-star hotel for up to two nights. This gives passengers more time to see Istanbul’s famous landmarks before going on to their final destinations.
Travelers from Australia, Canada, Chile, China’s mainland (Shanghai, Guangzhou, Beijing), Chinese Taipei, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Mexico, New Zealand, Singapore, South Korea, and the United States are the first countries to benefit from this enhancement. Throughout 2025, Turkish Airlines intends to expand the improved portfolio to 15 more locations.
Launched in 2017, the Stopover in Istanbul program has already welcomed over 221,000 transit passengers from 91 countries, allowing them to discover cultural landmarks like the Ayasofya, Blue Mosque, Dolmabahçe Palace, Topkapi Palace, and the Bosphorus. With this expansion, the airline continues to strengthen Istanbul’s position as a vibrant global stopover hub while enriching the overall travel experience for its guests.
