UP Tourism Showcases Buddhist Heritage at PATA Travel Mart in Bangkok

Uttar Pradesh Tourism made a strong pitch at the 47th PATA Travel Mart 2025 with the theme “Embark on Your Bodhi Yatra in Uttar Pradesh”, highlighting the state’s six major Buddhist sites—Sarnath, Kapilvastu, Sankisa, Kaushambi, Shravasti and Kushinagar.

The state pavilion drew significant attention with immersive displays and active participation from over 20 co-exhibitors including tour operators, hoteliers and travel service providers. The effort underscores UP’s strategy to position itself as a global hub for Buddhist tourism and attract more long-stay, high-value international visitors.

“The enthusiastic response at PATA reaffirms our vision to make UP the global hub of Buddhist tourism,” said Mukesh Kumar Meshram, Principal Secretary, Tourism, Government of Uttar Pradesh. “The partnerships created by our co-exhibitors will strengthen itineraries, extend visitor stays, and bring direct benefits to local communities.”

Value for travel agents: The initiative opens up opportunities for creating dedicated Buddhist circuit itineraries, integrating wellness and cultural experiences, and building partnerships with international buyers focused on spiritual tourism.
