In a major boost to India’s spiritual tourism, the Uttar Pradesh Tourism Department is set to highlight the state’s vast Buddhist legacy at the Busan International Buddhism Expo 2025, scheduled from August 7 to 10 at BEXCO in Busan, South Korea. Recognized as one of Asia’s foremost Buddhist gatherings, the expo draws participation from countries around the world with deep-rooted Buddhist traditions, providing a vibrant platform to share their unique spiritual narratives.
Uttar Pradesh, renowned for its sacred Buddhist sites—including Sarnath and Kushinagar—aims to underscore its pivotal role in spreading Lord Buddha’s teachings globally. The state’s pavilion, which will be inaugurated by senior officials from the Embassy of India in South Korea, marks a significant diplomatic and cultural milestone. This event not only celebrates India’s historical spiritual ties with Korea but also spotlights the legend of Princess Suriratna’s journey from Ayodhya to Korea, reflecting centuries of shared heritage. The showcase is expected to foster deeper connections between India and international audiences, reinforcing Uttar Pradesh’s status as a key destination for Buddhist pilgrims and cultural travelers.
