Uttar Pradesh tourism department to give push to state destinations in Centre’s campaign

The Uttar Pradesh tourism department is actively promoting the state’s tourist destinations as part of the ongoing ‘Dekho Apna Desh—People’s Choice 2024’ campaign, a nationwide initiative launched by the Union Ministry of Tourism and Culture. The campaign aims to engage the public in highlighting India’s diverse tourist attractions.

To maximize participation and visibility, the Uttar Pradesh tourism department plans to involve regional influencers and well-known residents in their efforts. The department will also roll out promotional campaigns across social media platforms, television channels, and websites, according to Jaiveer Singh, the state’s tourism and culture minister. This initiative aligns with the Yogi Adityanath government’s broader campaign to elevate Uttar Pradesh’s tourist destinations on the national tourism stage.

The state government is focusing on a range of attractions, from religious sites like Ayodhya, Mathura, and Kashi to the historic forts of the Bundelkhand region and other notable destinations. By promoting these sites, the government hopes to draw more national and international visitors to Uttar Pradesh.

To facilitate public participation, the Union Tourism Ministry has developed a user-friendly digital platform, innovateindia.mygov.in. Participants of all ages can log in by selecting the “Dekho Apna Desh 2024” button on the portal. To cast their vote, they must provide their mobile number, email address, and age, and verify their entry through a mobile OTP.

Tourism destinations are categorized into various segments, including spiritual, cultural and heritage, nature and wildlife, adventure, and others. The voting process involves two key questions: one about participants’ favorite tourist attractions they have visited, and the other about the destinations they aspire to visit. Participants can either enter their responses directly or choose from the provided drop-down options.

The insights and feedback collected from this campaign will be instrumental in helping the Union Tourism Ministry enhance these destinations to world-class standards. To encourage participation, each respondent will receive a digital certificate upon submission, which they can share on social media platforms. The last date for voting is September 15.
