Vietjet Becomes Vietnam’s First Airline to Use Domestically Blended SAF and Wins Best Workplace Award

Vietjet has marked a milestone in Asian aviation by becoming the first airline in Vietnam to receive domestically blended Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) while also being named one of Asia’s “Best Workplaces” for the fifth year in a row at the HR Asia Awards 2025. Under its partnership with Petrolimex Aviation, the carrier has secured its first 1,200 cubic meters of SAF, blended at Vietnam’s Nha Be Oil Depot and certified under international ISCC EU standards. This development follows Vietjet’s SAF-powered flights in October 2024 and strengthens the airline’s role in supporting Vietnam’s National Green Growth Strategy and the global net-zero 2050 goal. Vietjet’s Standing Vice President To Viet Thang highlighted that with hundreds of new aircraft on order, the airline will increasingly integrate SAF to drive clean energy adoption, cut emissions, and promote green aviation worldwide. Produced from renewable sources such as used cooking oil, agricultural waste, and biomass, SAF can reduce carbon emissions by up to 80% compared to conventional jet fuel, ensuring a sustainable transition for the aviation industry. With these achievements, Vietjet reinforces its dual commitment to environmental leadership and employee well-being, positioning itself as both a green aviation pioneer and one of Asia’s most admired workplaces.
