Vietnam Highlights Visa Facilitation as Key to Boosting Tourism from South Korea and Taiwan

Vietnam has underscored the importance of visa facilitation in strengthening tourism cooperation with two of its largest source markets South Korea and Taiwan. Speaking at a seminar held in Ho Chi Minh City on August 23, jointly organised by the Ho Chi Minh City Tourism Association, Travel Association, and Golf Tourism Association, officials and industry leaders emphasized that streamlined visa policies are crucial for expanding two-way tourism exchanges. Nguyen Viet Anh, Vice-Chair of HCMC Tourism Association, noted that both South Korea and Taiwan have consistently ranked among Vietnam’s top international visitor markets, with arrivals steadily increasing. Representatives from the South Korean Consulate General and the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office highlighted their efforts to simplify visa procedures, making travel more accessible for Vietnamese visitors as well. A major spotlight of the event was golf tourism, which has seen annual growth of 10–15 percent, particularly among high-spending travelers from South Korea and Taiwan. Industry experts noted that Vietnam’s recent visa reforms including extended stays, broader exemptions, and e-visas have significantly boosted interest in golf tourism, encouraging longer visits and repeat trips. With continued facilitation, Vietnam is poised to become one of Asia’s leading golf tourism destinations while enhancing its position as a preferred travel hub for South Korean and Taiwanese visitors.
