Vishal Bhatia Appointed India Market Director by Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority to Strengthen Presence in Key South Asian Market

In a strategic move to boost its footprint in India, Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority (RAKTDA) has appointed Vishal Bhatia as its new India Market Director. Based in Mumbai, Bhatia will spearhead RAKTDA’s market strategy and operations across India, reinforcing the Emirate’s growing appeal as a preferred travel destination for Indian tourists. With India ranking among Ras Al Khaimah’s top five source markets, the appointment highlights the authority’s commitment to long-term growth and deeper market engagement in South Asia.

Bhatia brings over 20 years of experience in the travel and tourism industry, most notably as Country Manager at VisitBritain, where he led integrated market strategies and B2B and consumer campaigns to elevate Britain’s presence in India. His expertise in market development, strategic partnerships, and sustainable tourism growth is expected to play a vital role in strengthening Ras Al Khaimah’s positioning as a year-round destination for Indian travellers.

Commenting on the appointment, Iyad Rasbey, Vice President of Destination Tourism Development at RAKTDA, said, “Vishal’s deep understanding of the Indian market comes at a pivotal time as we witness strong growth from the region. His leadership will be instrumental in enhancing the destination’s visibility and tapping into segments like destination weddings, which hold significant promise for the Emirate.”

Expressing enthusiasm about his new role, Bhatia stated, “This is an exciting opportunity to build on the momentum Ras Al Khaimah is experiencing in India. My focus will be on strengthening trade and consumer engagement, expanding awareness across major cities, and unlocking potential across diverse travel segments.”

Known as the “Destination of the Future,” Ras Al Khaimah continues to attract Indian travellers with its scenic landscapes, authentic cultural experiences, family-friendly attractions, and increasing luxury hospitality options. The destination’s appeal is further boosted by enhanced air connectivity and visa-on-arrival access for Indian passport holders. Bhatia’s appointment underscores RAKTDA’s strategic emphasis on high-growth South Asian markets and its long-term investment in India as a key driver of tourism growth.
