The city of Vizag has unveiled a spectacular new landmark the Vizag Skywalk, officially India’s longest glass skywalk bridge, perched 862 feet above ground and 1,000 feet above sea level in the iconic Kailasagiri Hills. Offering breathtaking views of the Bay of Bengal, Visakhapatnam’s skyline, and the lush Eastern Ghats, the bridge combines world-class engineering with natural beauty. The project, a joint collaboration between SSM Shipping and Logistics (Visakhapatnam), Bharat Mata Ventures (Kerala), and the Visakhapatnam Metropolitan Region Development Authority (VMRDA), began in January 2025 and involved over 100 engineers, fabricators, and construction experts. Designed by former Andhra University professor Madhav Babu with the glass deck conceptualised by Jomy Poonoly of Bharat Mata Ventures, the Vizag Skywalk surpasses Kerala’s Vagamon Glass Bridge—also created by Poonoly as the longest in the country. More than just an architectural marvel, the skywalk is set to become a major tourism draw, redefining Visakhapatnam’s position as a premier coastal destination.
