“Our vision is to place India among the top ten global destinations for adventure travel by 2034,” affirms Mr. Ajeet Bajaj, President of the Adventure Tour Operators Association of India (ATOAI). This forward-looking vision reflects his unwavering commitment to positioning India as a global leader in the adventure tourism landscape.
Mr. Bajaj passionately highlights India’s immense potential: “India is blessed as a country as far as our natural heritage is concerned. According to the World Economic Forum, India’s Natural Heritage is ranked amongst the ten best in the world.” With its vast geographical diversity and rich cultural tapestry, India holds a unique edge in offering world-class adventure experiences.
Under his dynamic leadership, ATOAI continues to champion sustainable and responsible tourism. From eco-conscious practices to grassroots engagement, the association is building a framework where adventure and environmental stewardship go hand in hand.
Equally vital to ATOAI’s mission is ensuring the safety and well-being of every traveler. “Safety is paramount in adventure tourism,” Mr. Bajaj asserts. “ATOAI has developed comprehensive safety guidelines covering 29 verticals of adventure activities.” These guidelines, created in collaboration with the Bureau of Indian Standards, are setting new benchmarks for safe and enjoyable adventure experiences across the country.
Through vision, dedication, and action, Mr. Bajaj is shaping a future where India’s adventure tourism not only thrives—but leads.
