Voice of Influence – Pushkar Singh Dhami: Redefining Tourism in the Devbhumi

In a country where tourism is often reduced to glossy brochures and seasonal footfalls, Pushkar Singh Dhami is offering something deeper: a governance model where nature, belief, and public interest are held in equal esteem.

His “Voice of Influence” is not loud—but it is deeply resonant.

Uttarakhand, where faith and nature converge with quiet grandeur, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami is scripting a new tourism narrative—one rooted in sustainability, safety, and spiritual responsibility. Under his leadership, the Himalayan state is moving beyond the seasonal influx of pilgrims and trekkers to position itself as a model for balanced, inclusive tourism.

Dhami’s message is clear: preserve what we have, elevate what we offer, and protect those who come seeking solace, adventure, or divinity.

On Adventure Tourism & Cultural Preservation

At the flag-off of ITBP’s Himadri-2025 expedition, a bold initiative covering 84 border villages, Dhami underlined the significance of linking tourism with heritage:

“This effort will help in the preservation of the cultural and religious spots en route.”

By encouraging high-altitude trekking along historically rich routes, the Chief Minister is not just promoting fitness or adventure—he’s reinforcing a quiet diplomacy of cultural conservation and grassroots engagement.

On Eco-Tourism and Community Welfare

In recent wildlife and eco-tourism reviews, Dhami stressed that development must flow from forests to families:

“Eco-tourism activities must be scaled up near forest zones, while also ensuring prompt relief to those impacted by wildlife encounters.”

The state is now identifying new forest-friendly tourism corridors, creating jobs while reinforcing its role as an ecological custodian.

On Pilgrim Safety and Aviation Oversight

Following the tragic helicopter crash near Kedarnath this year, Dhami took a firm stand:

“No compromise with safety.”

The government has since mandated twin-engine helicopters, installed weather monitoring systems in Char Dham valleys, and introduced regular safety audits. In a state where vertical mobility is often a necessity, this reform isn’t just precautionary—it’s visionary.

On Digital Preparedness for Religious Tourism

As Uttarakhand prepares for the grand Nanda Raj Jat Yatra, one of the longest pilgrimage journeys in the Himalayas, Dhami is infusing tradition with technology:

“Digital tracking and telecom infrastructure are being set up on the 280 km yatra route… monthly state-level reviews and weekly divisional inspections have been put in place.”

In doing so, the state is ensuring that faith walks hand in hand with safety and connectivity.
