With 27% yearly increase: India becomes 2nd largest source of foreign visitors to the US

India has become the second-largest source of foreign visitors to the United States, with a 27% increase in arrivals this year. From January to May 2024, over 882,000 Indian visitors traveled to the US, marking a 37% rise from the same period in 2023.

In May alone, 263,150 Indians flew to the US, a 32% jump compared to the previous year.

 According to statistics published by the US National Travel and Tourism Office (NTTO). All prior arrival records have been surpassed by this spike in travel.

The US embassy announced that routine in-person tourist visa appointments will resume in September, with efforts underway to reduce processing backlogs. Wait times for tourist visas currently vary by city, with delays ranging from 441 days in Hyderabad to 607 days in Kolkata.

The embassy is also addressing technological issues to expedite the visa process.
