In anticipation of the Maha Kumbh in January 2025, the Yogi government is preparing to welcome an estimated 41 crore devotees and tourists from across India and abroad. To ensure a seamless experience for visitors, the Uttar Pradesh Tourism Department is establishing multiple tourism information centers both within and around the Kumbh Mela area in Prayagraj, offering essential services to enhance the experience of those attending this grand spiritual event.
Tourists will no longer need to search for information across the city, as 10 temporary tourism information centers will be set up outside the Kumbh Mela grounds, strategically located at all railway stations, bus terminals, and temporary bus stations in Prayagraj. According to Aparajita Singh, Regional Tourism Officer of Prayagraj, these centers will provide comprehensive assistance, including information on local attractions, accommodations, and services.
The Tourism Directorate is currently in the process of issuing an e-tender to select an agency for the establishment of these centers. Once operational, they will offer informational booklets in both Hindi and English, covering all major tourist sites in Prayagraj. These resources will also be made available in digital formats for ease of access.
Additionally, tourists will have access to a detailed guidebook at the centers, along with a list of trained guides to help with their inquiries. Visitors will also find information on registered paying guest houses and accommodation options, ensuring they can easily find suitable lodging.
One of the key features of these centers will be the provision of detailed information on tent cities and colonies located within the Mela area, offering visitors a wide range of accommodation options tailored to their preferences.
To further assist tourists, temporary information centers will also be established within the Kumbh Mela grounds. Each of the 30 thematic gates being constructed for the event will have a nearby information center. These centers will be staffed by dedicated personnel responsible for providing visitors with updates on the Kumbh Mela and key attractions in Prayagraj, as well as for the maintenance of the thematic gates.
