GITB 2025 Inaugurated in Jaipur by Tourism Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, Focus on Wedding Tourism and Global Partnerships

The 14th edition of the Great Indian Travel Bazaar (GITB 2025) was inaugurated today at the Jaipur Exhibition and Convention Centre (JECC) by Union Tourism and Culture Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat. Organized by the Department of Tourism, Government of Rajasthan, Ministry of Tourism, Government of India, and FICCI, the event runs from May 5–7 and brings together over 250 delegates from more than 50 countries. Highlighting India’s vision to emerge as a global tourism hub, Shri Shekhawat emphasized the role of GITB in fostering international partnerships and showcasing India’s cultural and experiential tourism offerings.

This year’s GITB puts a strong spotlight on ‘Wedding Tourism’ under the theme “Wed in India,” with participation from 11 international and 30 national wedding planners. Rajasthan’s royal heritage is being promoted as a premier destination for weddings. The event also features live demonstrations of traditional Rajasthani cuisine by celebrity chef Ajay Chopra, offering a taste of the state’s rich culinary traditions to international buyers.

GITB 2025 facilitates over 11,000 pre-scheduled B2B meetings between 275 foreign buyers and 200 Indian sellers, including state tourism boards, hotels, DMCs, and other service providers. An exhibition of around 300 booths showcases tourism segments such as heritage, adventure, wildlife, wellness, and medical travel. A Knowledge Paper on Inbound Tourism was also released, providing industry insights and growth trends.

The inaugural ceremony was followed by a Networking Dinner & Cocktails, and international delegates will participate in familiarization (FAM) tours across Rajasthan to experience the state’s tourism offerings firsthand. Shri Shekhawat reiterated the government’s focus on sustainable and inclusive tourism, with a commitment to eco-friendly infrastructure and community-based tourism models.

With its robust participation, global networking opportunities, and focus on niche tourism segments, GITB 2025 reinforces India’s positioning as a leading destination for experiential and business tourism worldwide.
