IndiGo has unveiled a major expansion plan aimed at strengthening air connectivity across Assam and the Northeast, with several new routes and schedule enhancements set to roll out over the coming months. A key highlight is the launch of a direct flight between Delhi and Jorhat, scheduled to commence in mid-September 2025. This new service will provide improved access to one of Assam’s vital cities, supporting both tourism and business travel.
Additionally, IndiGo will introduce a new Guwahati–Navi Mumbai flight under its winter schedule for 2025–26, linking the Northeast directly with India’s financial hub and enhancing commercial connectivity.
As part of regional restructuring efforts, IndiGo’s Delhi–Dibrugarh flight will now include a stopover in Guwahati, offering morning connectivity between Assam’s capital and upper Assam. This adjustment is expected to benefit early travelers and improve overall accessibility within the state.
The developments follow a meeting between Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma and IndiGo’s senior management in New Delhi. In a social media update, Dr. Sarma confirmed that the airline has responded positively to his appeal for enhanced air services to underserved locations such as Silchar, Dibrugarh, and North Lakhimpur.
In a move welcomed by residents, IndiGo is also set to introduce a morning flight between Guwahati and Silchar, addressing long-standing demand for better intra-state air connectivity. Furthermore, the airline will evaluate scheduled operations from Lilabari Airport in North Lakhimpur, potentially opening new avenues for air travel in the region.
