Finnair to Launch New Summer 2026 Routes to Catania, Florence, Valencia and Kos

Finnair is expanding its Southern European network with four new routes for summer 2026, adding Catania, Florence and Valencia to its schedule along with regular flights to the Greek island of Kos. The move underlines the airline’s focus on leisure travellers from Finland and Northern Europe seeking a mix of beach holidays and cultural experiences.

From summer 2026, Finnair will operate two weekly flights to Florence—renowned as Italy’s cradle of art and culture—and three weekly flights to Catania, Sicily’s vibrant gateway to southern Italian life. Spain’s Valencia, famous for its heritage and Mediterranean lifestyle, will be served twice weekly, alongside Kos, an island destination previously offered only on charter services.

“Italy, Spain and Greece are particularly popular with our Finnish and Northern European customers during the summer months,” said Christine Rovelli, Chief Revenue Officer, Finnair. “The new destinations complement our Southern European network, offering both beach holidays and culture, and the travel period extends from spring to autumn.”

The expansion strengthens Finnair’s already extensive footprint in Southern Europe. In Italy, the airline operates to Rome, Milan, Naples, Venice, Verona and Bologna. In Spain, the network covers Madrid, Malaga, Alicante, Barcelona, Palma, and several Canary Islands destinations including Tenerife, Gran Canaria, Fuerteventura and Lanzarote. In Greece, Finnair flies to Chania, Heraklion, Rhodes and Santorini.

With the new routes, Finnair is aiming to tap into the rising demand for diverse holiday options among European travellers while consolidating its presence in the Mediterranean leisure market.
