Harikishore S, IAS officer of the 2008 Kerala cadre, has been appointed as the Joint Secretary at the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India, for a tenure of five years. He takes over the position from M.R. Synrem, IAS.
The appointment, cleared by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC), is part of a larger move to strengthen administrative leadership across ministries. Alongside Harikishore’s posting, the ACC approved appointments of 34 other officers at the Joint Secretary or equivalent level, with pay aligned to Level 14 of the Pay Matrix.
While most of these appointments are for a period of five years or until further orders, some extend up to the officers’ dates of superannuation, ensuring long-term continuity in key roles. Harikishore’s inclusion is expected to support the Ministry of Tourism’s efforts in driving sustainable growth, policy reforms, and international promotion of India as a leading travel destination.
