Thai VietJet announced the launch of its new Ahmedabad–Bangkok service, strengthening its presence in India and expanding connectivity between the two countries.
Mr. Pinyot Pibulsongram, Chief Commercial Officer (CCO), highlighted India’s importance as a high-potential, year-round market with over 2 million annual visitors to Thailand. “The demand is strong, the limitation has always been flight capacity. With more aircraft coming in, we aim to grow the India–Thailand market significantly,” he said.
The new service will operate four times weekly (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday), with plans to increase to daily flights. Ahmedabad was selected for its large population base, strong leisure and MICE demand, and positive growth indicators. The route will also support connections to Phuket, Krabi, Chiang Mai, Vietnam, Tokyo, and Taipei.
Mr. Pinyot emphasized Thai VietJet’s unique value proposition, including award-winning cabin crew, free in-flight entertainment, high-quality meals with dedicated vegetarian options for Indian travelers, and exclusive boarding-pass benefits offering discounts across Thailand.
Indian travel agents and OTAs remain central to the airline’s strategy, contributing over 90% of bookings between India and Thailand. The airline is working on joint promotions with OTAs, GDS partners, and the Tourism Authority of Thailand, with a strong push toward MICE travel.
Operationally, the airline targets 100% reliability and improved on-time performance, supported by a major fleet expansion of 22 new aircraft over the next year. Sustainability remains a priority through its Fly Green initiatives, including SAF usage, reduced single-use plastics, recycling programs, and large-scale tree plantation efforts.
Looking ahead, Thai VietJet plans to open 4–5 new India routes annually, targeting major and tier-2 cities such as Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Chennai, Jaipur, and Lucknow. By 2027, the airline expects to operate 12–15 routes in the India market.
Mr. Pinyot thanked Indian travelers and trade partners for their continued support:
“We are committed to expanding aggressively and delivering a smoother, more reliable flying experience. We look forward to welcoming more passengers on board.”
