Sabre Corporation has entered into a long-term, 10-year strategic agreement with Lao Airlines, marking a significant step in the national carrier’s digital transformation and retail modernisation journey. The partnership is aimed at enabling Lao Airlines to transition towards modern offer-and-order-based airline retailing while strengthening its operational foundation for sustainable growth.
As part of the agreement, Lao Airlines has selected the SabreSonic Passenger Service System (PSS) and extended its distribution partnership with Sabre. The move consolidates the airline’s passenger servicing and distribution capabilities into a unified, future-ready technology ecosystem, ensuring operational continuity while supporting expansion plans.
Under the partnership, Lao Airlines will migrate to Sabre’s cloud-based PSS suite and continue its participation in the SabreMosaic Travel Marketplace. The integrated platform supports the complete passenger lifecycle — from reservations and ticketing to post-travel services — helping the airline streamline workflows, modernise legacy processes, and improve overall efficiency.
The agreement reflects a broader shift among national and regional carriers in Southeast Asia towards digital-first operating models, as airlines seek greater agility, retail flexibility, and global connectivity in an increasingly competitive environment.
Commenting on the development, Viengxay Singkham, Managing Director of Lao Airlines, said the decision represents more than a technology upgrade. He noted that adopting Sabre’s solutions would support the airline’s efforts to connect Laos more effectively with international markets, replace ageing systems, and enable safer, smoother, and more reliable operations, while preparing the carrier for the future of airline retailing.
Maneesh Jaikrishna, Vice President and Regional General Manager, Airline IT Solutions, Asia Pacific at Sabre, described the agreement as a key milestone in Lao Airlines’ growth journey. He highlighted that a unified PSS and distribution strategy would provide the scalability, efficiency, and operational stability required to support network expansion and enhance the end-to-end customer experience.
By leveraging SabreSonic and SabreMosaic Travel Marketplace distribution, Lao Airlines is expected to benefit from improved interline and codeshare connectivity, more consistent content across sales channels, enhanced retailing capabilities, and new revenue opportunities. As the airline continues to play a critical role in connecting Laos with regional markets, this digital transformation positions it to compete more effectively in the evolving Asia-Pacific aviation landscape.
