
Chhattisgarh is set to take a major leap in film production and creative infrastructure with the foundation stone laying ceremony of Chitrotpala Film City scheduled for *January 24, 2026. The project is being developed as India’s newest and most modern film city, strategically located in central India.
The film city will see an initial investment of ₹400 crore, comprising ₹150 crore support from the Government of India and ₹250 crore under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model. Once operational, it is expected to provide state-of-the-art facilities for film, television and OTT content production.
Speaking to *Travel World Online, Mr. Vivek Acharya, IFS, Managing Director, Chhattisgarh Tourism Board, and *Director, Directorate of Archaeology, Archives & Museums, Culture Department, Government of Chhattisgarh, said that the Chitrotpala Film City will play a transformative role in strengthening the state’s film ecosystem.
“The upcoming film city will give a strong boost to Chhattisgarh’s film fraternity and take regional cinema to new heights. At the same time, it will attract Bollywood and large national productions, positioning Chhattisgarh as a preferred filming destination,” he said.
Chhattisgarh has already emerged as an attractive shooting location following the introduction of the state’s film policy in 2022. In recent years, several prominent projects have been filmed in the state, including popular productions such as *Gram Chikitsalaya, The Great Indian Murder, Jehanabad, Kaun Praveen Tambe, among many others.
With the launch of Chitrotpala Film City, the state aims to further accelerate film tourism, generate employment, nurture local talent, and firmly establish Chhattisgarh on the national and international filmmaking map.
