Agoda and the Macao Government Tourism Office have expanded their partnership for 2026, with a renewed focus on promoting boutique and independent hotels in Macao, particularly in the Outer Harbour District.
The collaboration aims to highlight neighbourhood-driven travel experiences beyond Macao’s traditional tourism clusters, positioning areas such as ZAPE and NAPE as emerging hubs for waterfront stays and local exploration.
Data from Agoda indicates a sharp rise in global interest for Macao, with search demand growing significantly across multiple markets, including the Middle East (+247%), India (+70%), Japan (+62%) and Southeast Asia. The initiative also targets new source markets such as Brazil, Vietnam and Central Asia.
The partnership aligns with Macao’s broader tourism strategy to diversify its appeal beyond gaming, supported by improved connectivity, visa facilitation and a stronger push towards Muslim-friendly tourism offerings.
By combining Agoda’s global distribution network across accommodation, flights and activities with MGTO’s destination strategy, the initiative is expected to enhance visibility for boutique properties and attract new traveller segments seeking authentic, experience-led stays.
