Oceania Cruises Marks Keel Laying of New Luxury Ship ‘Oceania Sonata’

Oceania Cruises has completed the keel-laying ceremony for its next-generation luxury ship, Oceania Sonata, at the Fincantieri shipyard in Marghera, Italy, formally marking the start of the vessel’s construction.

Scheduled for delivery in August 2027, Oceania Sonata will be the ninth ship in the Oceania Cruises fleet and the first vessel of the new Sonata Class. The ship will be followed by Oceania Arietta in 2029, with two additional Sonata Class ships planned for 2032 and 2035.

Built at 86,000 gross tons with capacity for 1,390 guests, the ship is designed with a strong focus on space and premium accommodation. One-third of the stateroom inventory will be suites, including new two-bedroom Owner’s Suites, Horizon Suites and Penthouse Deluxe Suites.

The vessel will introduce two new onboard dining venuesLa Table par Maîtres Cuisiniers de France and Nikkei Kitchen, expanding Oceania Cruises’ culinary offering at sea.

Oceania Sonata follows the delivery of Allura Class ships Oceania Vista (2023) and Oceania Allura (2025), continuing the brand’s fleet expansion and renewal programme.
