Adani Airport Holdings Limited has partnered with MakeMyTrip to introduce a pre-booking model for duty-free shopping, signalling a shift towards pre-trip commerce in aviation retail.
The initiative allows international travellers to browse and pre-book from over 14,000 products across 100+ brands before reaching the airport, with pick-up available at AAHL-managed airports. The service is available for both departing and arriving passengers.
By shifting purchasing decisions to the trip planning phase, the model aims to reduce time spent at airport retail zones while improving overall passenger flow and experience.
The move aligns with broader industry trends where airports and travel platforms are increasingly integrating services to create seamless, end-to-end journeys.
According to AAHL, the integration is expected to enhance convenience and streamline the duty-free experience, while MakeMyTrip positioned it as an extension of its “connected trips” strategy focused on pre-planned travel services.
The rollout will be phased, with additional features expected to be introduced over time.
