World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC) has announced a major restructuring of its global leadership team, marking what it describes as a “new chapter” for the organisation.
Unveiled from its Madrid headquarters, the newly formed team brings together senior executives, former C-suite leaders, industry experts, and policymakers from across the travel and tourism ecosystem. Representing 21 nationalities across five continents, the restructuring reflects WTTC’s intent to strengthen its global perspective and responsiveness to evolving industry challenges.
Key appointments include Esteban Velásquez Wilhelm as EVP – Business Development & Members, Najib Balala as EVP – Advocacy, Government Affairs & Research, and Maribel Rodríguez Gamero as EVP – Destinations. Sarah Jukes takes charge as VP – Strategic Communications & Content, while Julio Solvas will oversee global financial strategy as CFO.
WTTC has also strengthened its regional footprint, appointing directors across Latin America, North Asia, Southeast Asia, the Middle East, Africa, North America, and Europe to enhance local engagement and advocacy.
Gloria Guevara stated that the new leadership reflects the global nature of the sector and will help support both members and governments, while Manfredi Lefebvre highlighted the team’s depth of experience in shaping the future of travel and tourism.
The restructuring underlines WTTC’s focus on strengthening public-private collaboration, driving sustainable growth, and reinforcing its role as the global voice of the industry.
