Yatra Online Limited has announced a breakthrough in travel technology with a major upgrade to DIYA, its AI-powered assistant. The update makes DIYA the world’s first generative AI tool capable of planning and booking complex, multi-city itineraries across different countries within a single, continuous conversation.
Available across Yatra’s web and mobile platforms, the upgraded DIYA moves beyond simple search. It uses Google’s Gemini models and advanced semantic intelligence to understand traveler intent. For example, a user can type a single prompt like, “Plan a 10-day trip to London, Paris, and Rome starting June 15,” and DIYA will instantly generate a bookable package including all flights, inter-city transfers, and hotel stays.
Siddhartha Gupta, CEO of Yatra Online, stated that the upgrade aims to close the “planning gap” where travelers previously spent weekends coordinating across multiple tabs. By leveraging Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), DIYA provides real-time, context-aware recommendations, effectively turning a complex weekend of research into a few minutes of dialogue.
