Digital travel platform Agoda has reported a significant rise in family accommodation searches for domestic summer travel in India, with destinations such as Puri, Wayanad and Goa emerging as trending choices for the May–June 2026 school holiday season.
According to Agoda’s latest accommodation search data, Indian families are increasingly choosing coastal, hill and nature-focused destinations that offer relaxation, outdoor activities and quality family time during the extended school break period.
Among the biggest gainers, Puri recorded a remarkable 68 percent increase in accommodation searches compared to last year. Known for the iconic Jagannath Temple and its expansive Bay of Bengal coastline, Puri continues to attract families looking for a blend of spirituality and beachside leisure.
Wayanad witnessed a 40 percent rise in family accommodation searches. With its cool climate, wildlife sanctuaries, plantation retreats and mist-covered forests, Wayanad is increasingly becoming a preferred escape from the summer heat of the plains.
Meanwhile, Goa registered a 29 percent increase in searches, reaffirming its position as one of India’s most popular family holiday destinations. Beaches, water parks and family-friendly resorts continue to drive strong interest among travellers.
Adventure and hill destinations also saw healthy growth in demand. Rishikesh recorded a 22 percent rise in accommodation searches as families showed increasing interest in rafting, yoga retreats and riverside experiences along the Ganga.
Popular hill stations including Mahabaleshwar and Ooty also continued to remain summer favourites, recording increases of 15 percent and 13 percent respectively.
Commenting on the trend, Gaurav Malik, Country Director for the Indian Subcontinent and Indian Ocean Islands at Agoda, said Indian families are now exploring a wider mix of destinations ranging from coastal retreats to nature escapes and established holiday favourites.
